The drive between el paso and white sands is over an hour, 3 hours between white sands and carlsbad and then 2 hours between there and el paso. About 2miles and you can add loops to make it bigger. I would camp in the sacramento mountains (far more enjoyable), visit carlsbad caverns (3ish hr drive from white sands).

Because it’s a national park, dune buggies are not permitted at white sands. Carlsbad caverns, in my opinion, will take. Personally to maximize the time and relaxation i would choose chiricahua national monument, white sands, guadalupe, carlsbad, and saguaro since. Beyond that there are picnic areas and tons of sand boarding.

It’s 4 hours from albuquerque to carlsbad, and 3 from carlsbad to white sands, so don’t make albuquerque your base. I need help deciding if. Can you bring a dog?
